Lip augmentation

Lip augmentation is mostly reduced to the injection application of a certain preparation, which achieves a larger volume or profile projection of the lips, highlights certain areas and emphasizes the color of the lips (redness).

Lip augmentation is most often performed in people with a primarily smaller volume, ie in thin lips or in the elderly in cases where tissue atrophy has occurred in the area of the lips themselves. Lip augmentation is also done for all people who want to emphasize their sensuality and get a nicer facial symmetry.

Who are the candidates?

This treatment is intended for anyone who wants to improve the appearance of the lips, whether it is a loss of volume, asymmetry or wrinkle relief.

The fact is that the lower lip is always naturally more dominant than the upper. The lips themselves are very complex and the entire periorbital region needs to be considered here. If your chin is small, if your lower or upper jaw is small, if your teeth and bite are irregular, you need to think about how to make up for that deficiency and get lip support.

If you find yourself in any of these aesthetic ‘challenges’, provided you are generally in good health, lip augmentation treatment is for you.

The goal is always to get a balance between the upper and lower lip. The lower one should be more voluminous, and the upper one should be directed slightly forward and enlarged.

What does the preparation look like?

Before the procedure, it is important to define with the doctor what effect do you want to achieve, because the amount of the preparation to be used depends on it. Also, it is important to choose the right type of dermal fillers because not every one is ideal for this treatment and not every one offers the best results for lip augmentation, which our doctor will advise you.

During the conversation with the doctor, it is necessary to mention the diagnosed allergies, the medications that are being taken, and it is necessary to discuss possible health problems with him.

It is also important to note that one should never overdo it. During the first treatment, it is better to apply a smaller amount of the product and gradually upgrade if you want more, than to get an unwanted result and full lips, or so-called. ‘Duck lips’.

As with any change on your face or body, it is extremely important to be realistic and aware of the possibilities you have.

The preparation for the procedure itself means removing make-up and creams from the face and disinfecting the region to be treated.

The course of the procedure

Lip augmentation treatment is performed with the help of hyaluronic dermal fillers in the form of an injection, and after the previous application of anesthetic cream and spray on the lips.

There are several techniques for applying hyaluronic dermal fillers that achieve various effects. Some of the techniques are: applying fillers along the inner edge of the lips to emphasize the lines of the lips, then applying fillers to only one lip (upper or lower) if there is a big difference in volume or emphasizing Cupid’s arch of the lip tip with fillers.

Doctors may decide to apply a needle filler or use a cannula, and which technique the doctor will choose depends on the client’s preferences and the natural shape of the lips.

The procedure is short-lived and well tolerated, and there is no pain after the procedure.

Since the lips are a light tissue that reacts to stings, it is important to emphasize that immediately after the treatment the lips are swollen for 24-48 hours and such an appearance of the lips is not a volume that is stable.

After the initial time of swelling, the lips are only reduced in the following period and shaped to the shape and volume agreed at the consultation.

How long does recovery take?

After applying the filler, the lips will be slightly swollen due to the injection stings.

It takes 2-3 days for the swelling to subside completely. If a bruise appears on the upper or lower lip the next day, it is recommended to apply an ice cube on the lip lightly, in a circular motion. It should be borne in mind that the ice should never be kept on the lip itself, in one place, but should be gently circled and not pressed hard. If necessary, it is allowed to take granules to relieve swelling and pain.

Once the initial swelling of the lips subsides, the final result is expected after two weeks.

During this period, the preparation will redistribute itself and adapt to the muscle base. During this period, all possible irregularities and possible white spots on the fold of the mucosa will correct themselves and disappear.

In case of hemorrhage, they will recede in a few days. You are free to cover it with powder after 24 hours of application.

Precautions

After treatment, do not consume alcoholic beverages, Lupocet, Paracetamol, Andol, Aspirin and other blood-thinning drugs for 24-48 hours.

Do not rub, massage the lips or push the product with your fingers – this is strictly forbidden. After application, the doctor will massage the lips himself and thus redistribute the preparation where he deems it necessary. If you feel any lumps after a day or two, contact us and you will come for a check-up if necessary.

It is not recommended to apply various preparations (creams, ointments) after applying the filler.

Also, the first day after treatment it is necessary to avoid the use of makeup.

In the case of oral herpes, certain diseases such as diabetes or systemic lupus, any scars, connective tissue problems or blood clotting problems, lip augmentation treatment is not recommended.

For a prolonged duration of lip fillers, it is recommended, after the swelling has completely subsided, adequate daily care in the form of lip balms with active ingredients such as antioxidants, vitamin E and hyaluronic acid.
